HB-HSN is hosting a special film screening of the documentary Farmers For America, narrated by Mike Rowe, directed by Graham Meriwether, and featuring several successful farmers from all over the country. This film encourages and inspires newcomers to agriculture. We'll have a guest speaker and a panel for a Q&A session following the documentary. |
Admission is $5 at the door or a donation of two items for the local food pantry; US Veterans and FFA & 4-H students are admitted free. Seating is limited; we recommend you pre-register online to reserve your space. Doors open at 12:00 PM for pre-registered guests; general admission is at 1:00, until we reach seating capacity.

Workshop: Heritage Chicken and Rabbit Processing
The Heritage Breeds-Heirloom Seeds Network, in partnership with WV Veterans to Agriculture hosted a workshop in Lavalette, WV (Huntington area). We welcomed several farmers/breeders who expanded their knowledge of humanely dispatching, butchering and carcass evaluation of chickens and rabbits.
We had a wonderful turnout with about 50 folks in attendance!

Workshop: Raising Heritage Rabbits for Meat & Market
The Heritage Breeds-Heirloom Seeds Network, in partnership with WV Veterans to Agriculture and The Livestock Conservancy, hosted a seminar in Huntington, WV. Attendees learned how to raise and market rabbits; classes were taught by several individuals with years of experience, and included nutrition, health, breeding, and economics. There was also a live demonstration of humane dispatching, including a tutorial on how to assess the carcass for disease and quality, and a live demonstration on how to tan your hides for profit. Lunch was included, prepared by Cabell Midland culinary arts students, and featured a choice between two main courses of rabbit cuisine. We had a wonderful turnout with about 30 folks in attendance!
